Autumn season
Autumn is moving in, and with this new season we start another year of Dingen die niet verkopen. We dedicate our first season to “Archives of the invisible”, an artistic program that shows both the tangible as the immaterial. Each month hosts a different artist or collective.
On now, from September 13th until September 29th, are Amber Croonen and Kasper Claes, opening our season with “Hurry, Slowly”. Amber uses her prints to emphasize the downfall of historical grounds and the deep connection between past and present. Kasper Claes’s installations reveal the unstoppable expansion of industry. Together, they create a dialogue within their own medium, about he fast paced changes in the world and the vanishing of things as wel know them, eventually looking for balance between progress and preservation.
From October 10th until October 27th, we are happy to host Cian-Ti Wang with the exhibition “Between us ( NOT A )”. Cian-Ti, born in Taichung City, Taiwan, currently living in Antwerp, aims to explore issues such as geopolitics, migration, and societal ethics through documentary films, installations, and performances. She combines critical theory and storytelling to integrate social issues into my art. Cian-Ti works with themes such as language, social dynamics, identity, history, and social space, drawing visual language from everyday objects like tools, ritual items, food, and social spaces.
From November 7th until November 24th we have the exhibition “Traces of not being there” by Mario Leko, Samuel De Maré and Marie De Corte. In this collaborative project these three makers from different disciplines, respectively video, painting and dance, try to touch the absence of something that was there but is now long gone. Using their artistic tools they will try to expose (in)visible traces of the events that are now replaced by memory. “Traces of not being there” marks a start of an investigation into the nature of memory and its ability to create something tangible out of absence. The space of Dingen die niet verkopen hosts their first attempt to hold as much presence as possible while not really being there.
In our last month of this season, from December 7th until December 22nd, we have another edition of “Dingen die niet verkopen, verkopen u dingen”. Within Archives of the invisible we work together with Disarming Design Palestine. Expect an open call in October, where we will look for more artists with disarming objects for this big group exhibition.
